Sami Rafiq is a professor in the Department of English at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. She is also an author, poet and translator. Her stories, poems, and translations have been published in leading literary journals and magazines in India and overseas. Rafiq’s first collection of poems, Woman in the Trees: Poems on Climate and Nature (2022), received rave reviews. Songs of Aligarh: Poems on Nature and Culture (2024) is her second collection of poems, intensifying her quest to voice the syllables of the non-human in her city, Aligarh.
